Senate Confirms Dr. Victor Ikeji as Abia’s Federal Character Commission Commissioner

The Nigerian Senate Today, Wednesday, December 17, 2025, confirmed Hon. High-Chief Victor Ikeji, Ph.D (Kpakpando-Umuahia) as the Federal Character Commission (FCC) Commissioner representing Abia State, following his successful screening by the Senate Committee on the Federal Character Commission last week, Thursday, December 11, 2025.

His confirmation came during plenary after the Senate considered and adopted the report of the Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs, which found him suitable for the appointment based on his qualifications, experience, and performance during the screening exercise.

High-Chief Ikeji, a former Mayor of Umuahia North LGA and a seasoned administrator, was nominated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in line with the constitutional provisions governing the Federal Character Commission.

The confirmation has been widely welcomed across Abia State, with stakeholders describing it as a deserving appointment that reflects confidence in his capacity to promote fairness, inclusiveness, and balanced representation in federal appointments and resource allocation.

With this confirmation, High-Chief Victor Ikeji is expected to bring his wealth of experience to bear in advancing the mandate of the Federal Character Commission at the national level.
