DR. VICTOR IKEJI CONGRATULATES NEW ABIA LP-SWC, COMMENDS GOV. OTTI’S LEADERSHIP

The Federal Character Commissioner representing Abia State, Victor Ikeji, has congratulated the newly elected State Working Committee (SWC) of the Labour Party in Abia State, led by Peter Azubuike, describing their emergence as a critical step toward strengthening the party’s structure and electoral prospects.

In a statement issued following the party’s elective congress, Dr. Ikeji commended the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, for what he described as “steadfast and result-oriented leadership” in stabilizing the Labour Party despite internal challenges. He noted that the governor’s resilience and strategic approach to party management played a pivotal role in preserving unity and cohesion during a turbulent period.

According to the Commissioner, the successful conduct of the congress and the emergence of the new leadership reflect a growing maturity within the party’s internal democratic processes. He emphasized that the endorsement of the new SWC by key stakeholders is essential in consolidating the party’s gains and positioning it for future political contests.

Dr. Ikeji expressed strong confidence in the capacity of the Azubuike-led leadership to reposition the Labour Party for greater success, stating that the new executives possess the competence and organizational depth required to steer the party effectively over the next four years.

He further projected that, with sustained unity and strategic leadership, the Labour Party in Abia State is well-positioned to secure an overwhelming victory in the 2027 general elections.

The Commissioner, however, underscored the importance of internal cohesion, inclusiveness, and adherence to party constitutional provisions as critical factors that will determine the long-term stability and effectiveness of the new leadership.

He called on party members and stakeholders to rally behind the new SWC, stressing that collective commitment and discipline will be essential in translating the party’s current momentum into tangible political success.

The Abia State chapter of the Labour Party had, on Saturday, April 25, 2026, conducted its elective congress at the State Party Secretariat, where new officers were elected to manage the affairs of the party for the next four years.
