*JUSUN Abia Chapter Suspends Strike*

By Ogbuehi Benita

The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Abia State Branch, is pleased to announce the immediate suspension of its industrial action.

This decision follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between JUSUN and the Abia State Government, which includes the full payment of all arrears resulting from the delayed implementation of the new minimum wage by the CONJUSS Scale for judiciary workers, among other key issues.

The union commends the Abia State Government, led by His Excellency, Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, for his prompt intervention and commitment to prioritizing the welfare of judiciary workers.

We also appreciate the general public for their understanding during the strike.

“We would like to express our gratitude to the Honorable Chief Judge of Abia State, Hon. Justice Lilian Abai, the entire tmanagement of the judiciary, the honourable judges of Abia State, all members of the bench, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the learned silks, and all critical stakeholders for their unwavering support.

Finally, we acknowledge the patience and resilience of our members, who have remained committed to the cause of justice and the rule of law.

The suspension of the industrial action marks a significant milestone in our struggle for the financial autonomy and independence of the judiciary.

We remain dedicated to ensuring that the judiciary is robust, corruption-free, and committed to delivering justice for all. We also hope that the other issues agreed upon in the MOU will be implemented accordingly, as this will further strengthen the judiciary and enhance justice delivery in Abia State.

“Solidarity Forever,” the statement reads.
