Hon. Ugoanusi Inducted Into CILGPAN
The Senior Special Assistant to the Abia State Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Magdalene Egondu Ugoanusi, has been formally inducted into the Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria (CILGPAN) as a Fellow of the institute – Hon. Magdalene Egondu Ugoanusi FCPN.

The induction ceremony, which took place yesterday, Saturday, November 8, 2025, was held at the Sen. Pius Anyim Auditorium, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State.
Hon. Ugoanusi was honoured by the Institute in recognition of her outstanding contributions to grassroots governance and local government development in Abia State. Since her appointment by the Executive Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, she has been instrumental in promoting reforms aimed at strengthening efficiency, accountability, and service delivery within the local government system.
In her remarks, Hon. Ugoanusi expressed profound appreciation to the Institute for finding her worthy of the honour. She also extended heartfelt gratitude to Governor Alex Otti for the opportunity to serve and contribute meaningfully to the transformation of local governance in the state.
“This recognition means a lot to me,” she said. “I dedicate it to His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, for his visionary leadership and for entrusting me with the responsibility to help drive his agenda of transforming local government administration in Abia State.”
The event attracted notable personalities from academia, government, and the local government administration sector, who commended Hon. Ugoanusi’s dedication to public service, professionalism, and passion for sustainable development at the grassroots.
Established under an Act of Parliament and recognized as the only legally chartered body specializing in Local Government and Public Administration in Nigeria, CILGPAN is mandated to promote professionalism, training, and standard-setting in local government and public administration practice across the country. The Institute provides certification, research, consultancy, and continuing professional development for public officers, administrators, and policymakers at all levels of government.
Through its activities, CILGPAN seeks to raise the standard of governance at the local level, enhance the capacity of administrators, and ensure the effective delivery of public services. Membership of the Institute is therefore a mark of professional excellence and commitment to best practices in governance and administration.
