Gov. Otti Aide , Hon. Ugoanusi Takes Changing Narrative To Ohafia: Calls For Those At the Grassroot to Embrace New Vision of Leadership

Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Magdalene Ugoanusi, has taken her “Changing the Narrative” campaign to Ohafia, calling on leaders and citizens at the grassroots to embrace a new vision of leadership anchored on transparency, accountability, and integrity.

Addressing stakeholders in Ohafia, Ugoanusi lamented that local government administration in many communities has long been characterized by missed opportunities, broken promises, and disconnection between leaders and the people. She described this disconnection as a deeper threat to society than poverty or insecurity, warning that it represents a “systematic destruction of our collective conscience.”

The governor’s aide stressed the need for a paradigm shift in governance—“from secrecy to transparency, self-interest to public interest, complaints to constructive solutions, and short-term gains to long-term vision.” She maintained that true leadership is not about occupying offices but about earning the trust of the people through service.

Ugoanusi also emphasized the role of citizens in driving change, urging them to be informed, hold leaders accountable, and contribute ideas and efforts toward community development. “Governance is a partnership, and every voice matters,” she said.
