Port Harcourt–Aba Train Service Resumes Tuesday — NRC
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced that the Port Harcourt–Aba train service will resume full operations on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. The service, which had been temporarily suspended for routine maintenance, will once again connect commuters between the two cities in Rivers and Abia States.
According to the NRC Eastern District management, the decision to resume followed successful completion of safety checks and technical inspections on the rail line and coaches. Officials assured passengers that measures have been taken to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
The corporation also encouraged commuters to take advantage of the service, emphasizing its importance in easing road traffic and providing an affordable alternative for travelers. Ticket sales and bookings are expected to open ahead of the resumption date.
The Port Harcourt–Aba corridor is one of the busiest in the Eastern rail network, serving traders, workers, and residents who regularly commute between the two states. The NRC urged passengers to adhere to travel guidelines and pledged to sustain improved services in the region.
