FG Dismisses 15 Correctional Officers, Sanctions Over 200 Others

The Federal Government has taken major disciplinary actions against personnel of the Nigerian Correctional Service.

According to an official statement released by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board, 15 correctional officers have been dismissed, while 216 others faced various sanctions after a review of 231 disciplinary cases.

The breakdown shows that 59 officers were demoted, 42 issued formal warnings, 8 were compulsorily retired, and 7 remain suspended pending further investigations.

Additionally, one officer had their rank reversed and was ordered to refund earnings improperly received, while another case was referred to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for prosecution.

The board emphasized its commitment to discipline, accountability, and maintaining professionalism within the service.
