OHUHU YOUTH EXECUTIVES VISIT HIGH- CHIEF IKEJI, HAIL HIS LEGACY IN YOUTH EMPOWERMENT AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
High Chief Victor Ikeji (Kpakpando -Umuahia), the immediate past Mayor of Umuahia North Local Government Area and a respected son of Ohuhu land, yesterday Tuesday, August 6, 2025, played host to the leadership of the Ohuhu Welfare Union Youth Executives in his country home at Umuagbom-Umukabia.
The delegation, led by the Youth President, Chief Uchenna Iheanacho Gavin, came on a courtesy visit to express their appreciation for the immense contributions of High Chief Ikeji to the advancement of youth development and community empowerment across Ohuhu land.
Receiving the delegation with warmth and humility, High-Chief Ikeji expressed deep satisfaction at the strides made by the current youth leadership. He commended the executives for their vision-driven leadership, unity of purpose, and bold initiatives targeted at repositioning Ohuhu youth for productivity and relevance.
In his remarks, Chief Uchenna Iheanacho praised the invaluable support and mentorship High Chief Ikeji provided at the early stage of the youth administration, describing him as a dependable leader and a pillar of strength. He recounted the inspiration drawn from Ikeji’s legacy of performance while in office, noting that virtually every community in Ohuhu still feels the ripple effects of his impactful leadership as LGA Chairman.
The youth president particularly highlighted the administration’s “Go Back to Farm” initiative, which has successfully seen the cultivation of over 30 plots in Ofeme, and appealed for continued support to upscale the project to empower more young people through agriculture.
He also took the opportunity to brief the former Mayor on the forthcoming Ohuhu Security Summit slated for September 2025, during which the youths will double down on advocacy against drug abuse in secondary schools and other pressing societal vices. The youth body, he said, remains resolute in complementing ongoing efforts to build a safer and more prosperous Ohuhu.
Responding, High Chief Victor Ikeji reiterated his unflinching support for youth-led development initiatives and applauded the current executives as the most focused and visionary in recent memory. He assured them of his availability to assist in relevant areas, especially in agriculture and skills development, which he described as key drivers of sustainable growth.
While urging the youth body to maintain its non-partisan, socio-cultural posture, he encouraged individual youths to engage in politics in order to drive the kind of leadership transformation Ohuhu and Nigeria at large need.
He also used the occasion to thank the youths for their goodwill messages on the recent safe delivery of his wife in Canada and assured them that his family remains committed to contributing meaningfully to the development of Ohuhu land.
In a closing remark, Chief Iheanacho reaffirmed the group’s loyalty to the shared vision of a greater Ohuhu, assuring High-Chief Ikeji that the youths will continue to uphold integrity, responsibility, and excellence in all their engagements.
