PRESIDENT TINUBU RECONSTITUTES NNPC LIMITED BOARD, APPOINTS NEW CHAIRMAN AND GROUP CEO

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a significant reconstitution of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited board, removing Chairman Chief Pius Akinyelure and Group Chief Executive Officer Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari.

In addition to Akinyelure and Kyari, President Tinubu has dismissed all other board members who were appointed alongside them in November 2023.

The new 11-member board now includes Engineer Bashir Bayo Ojulari as the Group CEO and Ahmadu Musa Kida as the non-executive chairman.

Adedapo Segun, who took over from Umaru Isa Ajiya as the Chief Financial Officer last November, has also been appointed to the new board.

Six non-executive directors representing the country’s geopolitical zones have been appointed, including:

– Bello Rabiu (North West)
– Yusuf Usman (North East)
– Babs Omotowa, a former Managing Director of the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) (North Central)
– Austin Avuru (South-South)
– David Ige (South West)
– Henry Obih (South East)

Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance, will represent the ministry on the new board, while Aminu Said Ahmed will represent the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

All these appointments are effective today, April 2.
