Asari Dokubo Appointed Leader of Muslims in the Southeast and South-South Regions
The Amanyanabo of Torusarama Piri (Elem Kalabari) in Rivers State, Da Amakiri Tubo, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari, has been appointed as the President-General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (Ameer Muminin) for the Southeast and South-South regions of Nigeria.
This appointment was formally announced during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Eastern and Southern Nigeria Islamic Council to his palace in Elem Kalabari, Rivers State.
Dr. Haroun Ogbonnia Ajah, the Vice President of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, emphasized the significance of this appointment, describing Asari Dokubo as a pillar of Islam in Nigeria. He acknowledged Dokubo’s unwavering commitment to the faith since the 1980s, noting his contributions to building mosques, supporting Muslim communities, and promoting religious harmony across the country.
In his acceptance speech, Asari Dokubo pledged to use his new position to uplift Muslims in the region, especially through economic empowerment initiatives aimed at improving their livelihoods. He also called for prayers and support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, highlighting the importance of good governance and national development.
The visit concluded with special prayers for peace, unity, and progress in Nigeria.
