I will take a second look at the agreement with pensioners -Gov. Otti

The Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has pledged to reevaluate the agreement his government signed with Abia pensioners.

The Governor made this commitment during a church service celebrating the 80th birthday of statesman and former senator for Abia Central, Sen. Chris Adighije.

“I want to thank you for your honesty. You can’t initially agree and then later claim you don’t agree. You also can’t sign under duress as a senior citizen,” he stated.

“I maintain that our senior citizens, our pensioners, are honest people. The issue lies with their leadership, which is related to the association.”

“When you say that nobody was paid a pension in 2018, you are correct, but this leadership was part of the reason for it.”

“Even when they were entering into an agreement with me, they probably didn’t believe that there would be any payments. When I made the payment, they turned around and said they didn’t sign, and that angered me.”

“However, because you have brought this up, I will take a second look at it,” the governor concluded.
