NULGE Condemns the Killing of It’s Member and Only Son ; Calls For Justice
The National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Umuahia North Chapter, Abia State has condemned the killing of one of its members, Late Bright Odizuru by one Chief Steven Irobunda at Ohokobe Ndume-Ibeku on Saturday 2nd November, 2024.
Speaking to newsmen, the Umuahia North LGA NULGE chairman, Comr. Ihedirinwoke Tochukwu described the event as unfortunate and callous, he said the late Odizuru who hails from Uhuala-Umezeoma, Ohuhu, Umuahia but resides at Ohokobe Ndume-Ibeku until his death was a staff of Abia State Local Government Service Commission attached to the administration department of Umuahia North LGA.
He revealed that their late member, was shot by one Chief Chief Steven Irobunda at Ohokobe -Ndume while him and others were playing football on Saturday 2nd November, 2024.
According to him, the late Odizuru and others were playing football when Chief Irobunda pulled out a gun and shot at them unprovoked with the released bullet hitting the Odizuru on his stomach which led to his death.
Comr. Tochukwu called on relevant security agencies and the government to ensure justice is served to protect the sanity of human lives as well as deter the likes of Chief Irobunda who has no respect for human life.
” Bright until his death was an active and committed Memeber of NULGE, his a huge loss to us, as his vibrancy and jovial nature will be greatly missed. We also sympathized with the entire Odizuru family and the people of Uhuala, Umezeoma, Ohuhu for this loss. We pray God to give this fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss” he added.
The Late Odizuru is the only son of his parents, his death has marked the end of a lineage as their no other child to continue the family tree.
