Mayor Ikeji Distributes Sewing Machines, Other Equipments to Best Graduating Students of Skills Acquisition Programs
The Mayor of Umuahia North LGA, Hon. High-Chief Victor Ikeji, Ph.D (Kpakpando-Umuahia), yesterday, November 1st, commenced the new month by distributing electric sewing machines and other sewing equipment to some of the best-graduating students of the first batch of the Skill Acquisition Programs organized by his administration.
The Mayor, while distributing the sewing equipment to the fashion design/tailoring graduates, commended them for their hard work and dedication to the program.
He urged them to keep up with the hard work, as he reminded them that skills are the most assured way of escaping poverty.
Mayor Ikeji, however, warned the beneficiaries not to sell the items but instead put them to good use and add value to themselves, their families, and society at large.
The beneficiaries thanked the Mayor for the gifts and further assured him that they would put them to good use.
Recall that the Mayor, within 11 months in office, has trained over 362 youths in Umuahia North in different skill-sets ranging from Shoe Making, Tailoring, Phone Repair, Barbing, Make-Up artistry, Hair dressing, Baking and confectionery, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Others are Computer Hardware repairs & Networking, Carpentry, Welding, Cosmetology, and Event Decoration.
