Federal Character Commissioner, Dr. Ikeji Assures Gov. Otti of Second Term; As FHA Flags Off Housing Estate in Abia
The Federal Character Commissioner representing Abia State, Hon. High-Chief Victor Ikeji, Ph.D has commended Governor Alex Otti for what he described as breaking an 18-year delay in securing land for a Federal Housing Estate in the state.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Federal Housing Estate project in Umuahia on April 21, 2026, Dr. Ikeji said the prolonged land acquisition challenge had stalled federal housing development efforts in the state for nearly two decades before the recent breakthrough under the leadership of Gov. Alex Otti.
He attributed the development to what he called Governor Otti’s transformative and result-oriented leadership, noting that effective governance depends on preparedness, discipline, and clear vision rather than complexity.

According to him, the governor has demonstrated strong capacity within less than three years in office, repositioning Abia State for sustainable growth.
Describing the administration as highly transformative, Dr. Ikeji said Governor Otti has significantly altered the developmental trajectory of the state.
He added that the governor’s performance has strengthened public confidence in his leadership, expressing optimism that his re-election in 2027 is “assured.”
He also cautioned political opponents planning to contest against the governor in 2027 to reconsider their ambitions, warning that such efforts may amount to a waste of resources.
The FCC Commissioner further expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the Federal Housing Authority project in Abia State, describing it as a major boost to infrastructure and housing development.
The project, being executed by the Federal Housing Authority, is expected to deliver modern housing units and support urban renewal and expansion in the state capital.
