FCC COMMISSIONER LEADS STAFF TO VISIT GOV. OTTI, SEEKS STATE COLLABORATION
The Federal Character Commissioner representing Abia State, Hon. High-Chief Victor Ikeji, Ph.D today 19th March 2026 led a delegation of the staff of the Abia State Office of the Federal Character Commission on a working visit to the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR.
During the visit, Dr. Ikeji expressed gratitude to Governor Otti for the confidence reposed in him through his nomination for the important national assignment.
He noted that since his swearing-in by the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and subsequent assumption of office in Abuja, he has approached his duties with a deep sense of responsibility at the national and State level.

Dr. Ikeji further informed the Governor that he had engaged with staff of the Commission in Abia State, charging them to uphold the values of diligence, discipline, accountability, and excellence—principles that align with the current leadership ethos of the Abia State Government.
He also sought strategic collaboration between the state government and his office to ensure that the interests of Abia State are effectively represented at the national level.
In his response, Governor Otti formally congratulated Dr. Ikeji on his appointment and expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for the choice.
He described the appointment as a well-deserved one, noting that Dr. Ikeji is “a square peg in a square hole,” and reaffirmed his confidence in his capacity to deliver on the mandate of the Commission.
The Governor assured the delegation of the full support of the Abia State Government, emphasizing that the Commission is welcome to engage his office on any matters requiring state collaboration and support.
In his vote of thanks, the State Director of the Federal Character Commission in Abia State, Mr. Okolorie Valentine, appreciated the Governor for the warm reception accorded to the delegation and for his role in facilitating Dr. Ikeji’s nomination, citing his proven track record of performance.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Commission’s staff to its core mandate of promoting fairness, equity, and justice for all Nigerians and access to opportunities, irrespective of ethnic or regional background.
Other top government officials present during the visit included the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajaegbu; the Principal Secretary/Chief Strategy Officer of Abia State government, Mr. Chinenye Mba-Uzoukwu; the Special Adviser on Security Matters, Navy Commander Macdonald Ubani (Rtd); and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha amongst others.
