President Tinubu Lifts State of Emergency in Rivers State

President Bola Tinubu has lifted the state of emergency in Rivers State, effective from midnight, September 17, 2025. Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Nma Odu, and the State House of Assembly are set to resume their constitutional duties on September 18.

The emergency, declared in March 2025 amid political disputes and security concerns, aimed to restore order and prevent governance paralysis. Tinubu urged state leaders to maintain peace and ensure effective governance as normalcy returns.
