Soludo Appoints Abia-Born Joachim Achor as Anambra Accountant General

In a bold move emphasizing meritocracy over indigeneity, Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, has appointed Mr. Joachim Achor, an indigene of Isuikwuato in Abia State, as the new Accountant General of Anambra State. Achor emerged tops after a rigorous selection process involving computer-based tests, oral interviews, and final assessment by the governor himself.

Mr. Achor, who has lived in Anambra for decades, completed his NYSC in the state, received a merit award for his service, and rose through the ranks of the civil service from Director to Permanent Secretary before his recent elevation. His appointment breaks from convention and has been widely celebrated as a demonstration of Soludo’s commitment to competence, inclusion, and reform-driven leadership.

Governor Soludo described the selection as strictly merit-based, noting that the process was devoid of political influence. He urged civil servants and public officers to take the appointment as a signal that excellence and dedication to duty will always be recognized—regardless of origin.
