JUST IN: 2027 – LP National Chairman Abure Meets Mayor Igbokwe in Abuja, Fuels Defection Rumours
The National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Barr. Julius Abure, on Thursday held a closed-door meeting in Abuja with renowned media entrepreneur and 2023 Abia PDP governorship aspirant, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, popularly known as Don Lulu.
Also in attendance were the Labour Party’s Vice Chairman for the Southeast, Chief Ceekee Igara, and a former lawmaker representing Umuahia North State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Kelechi Onwuzuruike.
The high-profile gathering has triggered strong political speculations regarding a possible realignment ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Abia State.
Mayor Igbokwe, who emerged as runner-up in the 2023 PDP governorship primaries, remains an influential voice in Abia’s political and developmental landscape. His engagement with the leadership of the Labour Party is now being widely viewed as a possible signal of his intent to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the LP.
