Hon. Ugoanusi Calls For Collaboration Amongst Tiers Of Govt To Ensure Development at Grossroot
The Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Megdalene Egondu Ugoanusi has called for greater collaboration amongst the various tiers of government in Abia State to ensure that development gets to the people at the grassroot.
Hon. Meg while speaking at an event convene by her office with the theme ” Changing the narrative at the local government areas for good governance” which held yesterday Wednesday 5th March, 2025 at the Banquet Hall of Umuahia North LGA posited that, the narrative of Abia under the ably leadership of Dr. Alex Otti is changing for good, as the governor has matched words with action by spreading developmental projects across the nooks and crannies of the state.
He further stated that the state since it’s creation has not heard it this good in terms of infrastructural development.
The governor’s aide however adduced that, the efforts of the state government will not have the needed effect if those at the local government level which is the grassroot are not involved.
She said, all the projects of the state government is sited in one local government or the other and the people are the grassroots are the first beneficiaries of these projects, she therefore called on the people at the third tier of government to take ownership of government projects and ensure their safety.
She commended the council mayors for their efforts in replicating the giant strides of the governor at their various local government.
The event which was well attended was graced by the Wife of the deputy governor, H.E, Mrs. Adaeze Chidera Emetu, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, Director-General, Abia State Orientation Agency, Ms. Ure Abazie, , the Permanent Secretary of the Abia State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Barrister Agbonma Ukobasi, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Ease of doing business,Special Assistants to the Governor on Creative Economy, Industry and SMEs and the Mayor of Umuahia North LGA, Hon. Smart Iheoma amongst other government functionaries who were keynote speakers.
