Special Red-Carpet Tribute Night to Honour Abia Born Modern Highlife Singer Chris Mba On Friday

A special red-carpet tribute night will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023 at the COSON House in Ikeja, Nigeria, to honour the late Chris Mba. The event will feature music, presentations, and tributes to the legendary Nigerian artiste.
Many of Mba’s friends and colleagues from the music industry are expected to attend, including top Nigerian artistes. Dr. Alex Otti, the governor of Chris Mba’s home state of Abia, is also expected to send a message to the tribute night.
The red carpet ceremonies will begin at 5:00 pm prompt. The event is free and open to the public.
Chris Mba died on May 3, 2023, at the age of 55. He was a singer, songwriter, and actor who was known for his hit songs “Baby Don’t Cry” and “I Need You.” He was a pioneer of the modern highlife genre in Nigeria and is considered one of the most influential musicians of his generation.
The tribute night is a way to celebrate Mba’s life and legacy. It is also an opportunity for his fans and friends to come together and pay their respects.
In addition to the tribute night, Chris Mba will be laid to rest on Friday, August 25, in his hometown of Umuhuaba in Obingwa L.G.A. of Abia State.
