Any process undertaken outside these provisions is invalid, null and void.

The attention of the national leadership has been drawn to a letter dated 5th January, 2025, addressed to the National Chairman through the National Secretary, conveying a resolution of the Abia State Executive Committee which purportedly suspended the State Chairman, Mr. Nelcinn Chiemezuo Uluocha. This action clearly violates the principle of fair hearing as enshrined in Article 36(6), pages 69–70 of the YPP Constitution on Disciplinary Procedure, which expressly provides that “any decision taken against a member who has not been informed of the charges against him or has not been given the opportunity of defending himself shall be null and void.”

Furthermore, there was no indication or reference in the said resolution that a disciplinary committee was constituted to investigate the allegations and make appropriate recommendations prior to the purported suspension. This fundamental omission renders the entire process invalid and of no effect.

Even if without conceding it that due process had been followed at the state level, the removal of a State Chairman cannot take effect unless and until it is duly ratified by the National Working Committee (NWC). Article 31(7), pages 56–57 of the YPP Constitution on the Procedure for the Removal of Party Officials clearly states that “the State Chairman and Secretary shall be removed by a resolution of two-third majority votes of members of the State Executive Committee, which shall be ratified by a two-third majority votes of the National Working Committee, after which the removal shall then take effect.” This mandatory constitutional requirement was not complied with.

In view of the foregoing, all critical stakeholders, including party members, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and the media are hereby urged to disregard the reports circulating regarding the removal of Mr. Nelcinn Chiemezuo Uluocha. The party unequivocally reaffirms that he remains the duly recognized State Chairman of the Young Progressives Party, Abia State Chapter.

Conclusively, the national leadership calls on all stakeholders to close ranks and resolve all grievances in a manner that preserves the sanctity and supremacy of the party’s constitution. In addition, the following members of the Abia State Executive Council—Barr. Armanda Kalu, Hon. Enemanna Success, Barr. A. C. Chukwunyere, Hon. Douglas Nwakanma, Hon. Uwaoma Ndubuisi, Hon. Ikpeama Ugochukwu, Hon. Cecelia Okafor, Hon. Elizabeth Ojum, Hon. Basil Emegharibe, Engr. Chiozoadighi Gordon, Hon. Enemanna Wisdom, Hon. Emmanuel Aguiyi, and Hon. Ugochukwu Uwaoma Emmanuel are hereby cautioned to uphold the supremacy and sanctity of the YPP Constitution. The national leadership will not hesitate to take firm and necessary steps to address any conduct capable of bringing the party into disrepute.

Signed:

Comrade Egbeola Wale Martins
National Publicity Secretary

PRESS RELEASE YOUNG PROGRESSIVES PARTY NATIONAL SECRETARIAT, ABUJA 8TH JANUARY, 2026 YPP REPUDIATES THE PURPORTED

[26
44
post-3275","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-breaking-news","tag-trending
["https://ikorofmnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/1001176154.png",1080,1350,false
https://ikorofmnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/1001176154-150x150.png",150,150,true
https://ikorofmnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/1001176154-240x300.png",240,300,true
https://ikorofmnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/1001176154-768x960.png",640,800,true
https://ikorofmnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/1001176154-819x1024.png",640,800,true],"1536x1536":["https://ikorofmnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/1001176154.png",1080,1350,false],"2048x2048":["https://ikorofmnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/1001176154.png",1080,1350,false
https://ikorofmnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/1001176154-1024x1280.png",1024,1280,true
https://ikorofmnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/1001176154-825x575.png",825,575,true
https://ikorofmnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/1001176154-590x410.png",590,410,true
Eluwa Tochukwu
["GET
