Court Orders Nnamdi Kanu to Open Defence in Terrorism Trial, Rejects No-Case Submission<\/p>\n
The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed the no-case submission filed by Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), in his ongoing terrorism trial.<\/p>\n
Justice James Omotosho ruled that the prosecution had established a prima facie case, requiring Kanu to open his defence, which is scheduled to begin on October 8, 2025.<\/p>\n
Kanu\u2019s legal team had argued that the five Department of State Services (DSS) witnesses failed to directly link him to alleged terrorism activities. However, the court held that their evidence was sufficient to sustain the trial.<\/p>\n
The judge also directed the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) to constitute a panel of experts to assess Kanu\u2019s health condition and recommend the appropriate facility for his treatment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
