FG Dismisses 15 Correctional Officers, Sanctions Over 200 Others<\/p>\n
The Federal Government has taken major disciplinary actions against personnel of the Nigerian Correctional Service.<\/p>\n
According to an official statement released by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board, 15 correctional officers have been dismissed, while 216 others faced various sanctions after a review of 231 disciplinary cases.<\/p>\n
The breakdown shows that 59 officers were demoted, 42 issued formal warnings, 8 were compulsorily retired, and 7 remain suspended pending further investigations.<\/p>\n
Additionally, one officer had their rank reversed and was ordered to refund earnings improperly received, while another case was referred to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for prosecution.<\/p>\n
