Hon. Akaliro Honours Nkwoachara Ward’s Invitation: Gives Account of Stewardship As He Attends Town Hall Meeting
The honourable member representing representing Umuahia North (Ohuhu) State Constituency, Hon. Barr. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro yesterday, Wednesday, 4th of September 2024, honored the invitation of his constituents in Nkwoachara Ward, who invited him to a town hall meeting to give an account of his representation so far in the Abia State House of Assembly.
The honorable member, during the town hall meeting, thanked the people of Nkwoachara for inviting him to the meeting.
He adduced that the beauty of democracy is the citizens participation and engagement
He pledged to always make himself available for the people whenever his called upon.
On his performance so far as a legislator, as it affects the people of Nkwoachara. He said the Ward is one of the five wards his representing; however, as a legislator his core function is law making and so far , he disclosed that, he has proposed bills on agriculture and education which when assented to by the governor after necessary legislation will impact the people positively.
He also stated that last year, he was the major sponsor of the 2nd edition of the Ohuhu Spelling Bee for Public Secondary Schools in Ohuhu, which was held at the Umuawa -Alaocha Civic Hall in Nkwochara Ward.
He also stated that he has been very instrumental in the maintenance of the failed portion of the Ohuhu ring in Umuawa-Alaocha and also disclosed his efforts in reaching out to the executive governor to find a permanent solution to the road.
He called on the people of Nkwoachara to provide him with 10 persons who he would help secure a grant of #100,000 each to support their businesses.
He assured the people of Nkwoachara and his constituents in general of his commitment to quality representation in the Abia legislature.
Responding on behalf of the people after a question and answer session, Mr. Ejikeme Ikwunze (Mr. Football) thanked the lawmaker for honoring their invitation.
He urged him to factor the people, especially Ndi-Nkwochara, into his programs and activities.
The people of Nkwoachara said they invited four leaders; the Senator Representing Abia Central, Hon. Augustine Akobundu, the honourable member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Hon High-Chief Obinna Aguocha, the Mayor of Umuahia North LGA, Hon High-Chief Victor Ikeji, Ph.D and the honourable member representing Umuahia North (Ohuhu) State Constituency, Hon Barr. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro.
So far, only the Mayor and the House of Assembly members has physically honored the invitation.
“The Senator sent a letter informing us of his unavailability but will attend as soon as his back in state”.
The honorable member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia is yet to attend nor respond to the letter” they stated.
