The family of late Izuchukwu Mbakwe, a staff of De-Choice Restaurant who was allegedly killed by a security officer attached to the restaurant on the order of the auditor of the firm on Sunday 26th March,2023 in Umuahia met with the leadership of Progressive Abia Youths on Sunday, 4th June, 2023.
The grieving family disclosed how far they have gone in getting justice for their slain son when the members of the Progressive Abia Youths led by the President-General Kingsley Ekejiuba paid the family a condolence visit at their country home in Umuosu-Nkwoegwu, Ohuhu, Umuahia.
The family revealed to members of PAY that the late Izuchukwu will be buried on the 16th of June, “however his burial will not be the end of the case”. They revealed their preparedness to persist until justice is served in order to ensure that the soul of their deceased son finds peace.
The family further stated that they have officially opened a case against the management of De-Choice Restaurant.
They said apart from demanding for justice in their petition, they also want among other things for the management of De-Choice to provide the CCTV camera footage of the day the incident took place as well as provide the auditor of the firm that allegedly gave order for their son to be shot if they want to exonerate themselves of being culpable to the crime.
The Mbakwe family also revealed that the trigger tasty security officer is already in detention.
Kingsley Ekejiuba , the President-General of PAY while speaking on behalf of the group, sympathized with the family. He said ” I understand how you feel, it’s very disheartening to lose a young and promising youth to the cold hands of death in the way and manner Izuchukwu was killed, but be rest assured that Abia youths will not rest until justice is seen to be served. The Progressive Abia Youths have been following the court proceedings; we will accept nothing short of total justice. ”
He assured the family that PAY will support the family with its networks and in any other means necessary to ensure the family gets justice.
He urged the family to be consoled while assuring them that PAY will not allow the case to be swept under the carpet as usual.
Mr Ekejiuba also promised the family that, the group will participate fully not just in the funeral activities but in the process of getting justice for their deceased son.
