2024 Umuahia North Women August Meeting Holds Amidst Funfare As Abia First Lady Attends
The 2024 Umuahia North Women August Meeting hosted by the chairperson of the council and wife of the Mayor, Chief Mrs. Lilian Nkiruka Ikeji, held yesterday, Saturday 14th September, 2024, at the premises of the local government amidst funfare and cultural displays from various women.
The presence of Abia first Lady, H.E Priscilla Chidinma Otti, was the icing on the cake as it added to the glamour of the well attended event.
The wife of the governor, Mrs Priscilla Otti in her speech during the event, thanked the people of Umuahia North especially the women for massively voting for her husband, Dr Alex Otti during the last guber poll.
The Abia First Lady, adduced that going by the record of the last election, Umuahia North recorded the highest vote in the ekection.
She assured the women that the governor would continue to justify the confidence the people of Abia had reposed on him through their votes.
She reiterated the commitment of the Otti led administration to improve all-around governance in the state through people oriented programmes
The Chairperson, Chief Mrs. Lilian Nkiruka Ikeji, who was unavoidably absent, was ably represented by the wife of the deputy mayor, Mrs Chika Vivian Amah. In her speech, she appreciated the First Lady for honouring Umuahia women with her presence and for her motherly role through her various programmes that have immensely benefited women and children in the state.
She also thanked the women for their massive turnout and reiterated her commitment to continue to promote policies and programs that will protect the interest of women and children in the council and society in general.
Hon. High-Chief Victor Ikeji, Ph.D (Kpakpando-Umuahia), in his goodwill message, assured the women that he would not relent in his effort to ensure that women and children have an improved life within the council.
He thanked the executive governor for the #100,000 interest-free loan given to small and medium scale owners through cooperative across the 184 wards in the state of which women within the 12 wards in the council are beneficiaries
He stated that from reports, the corporative loan received by the beneficiaries is greatly helping small-scale business owners to stock up and improve their businesses.
Highpoint of the events includes; match pass and cultural dance displays as well as presentation of farm products to the first Lady by various women group within the council.

Okechukwu Anthony Amah, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr. Mrs Maureen Aghukwa, the wife of the deputy speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Mrs. Eucharia Okezie Meregini, the S.A on Women Mobilization, Hon.Chinwe Kanu Ubah, the SSA on Ease of Doing Business, Hon. Barr. Agbonma Jenifer Ukabasi, the Acting Head of Service of the Council, Mrs. Favour Orji, the Chairman, Ohuhu Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Charles Ngwuli, HRH Eze Godswill Asumuoha, amongst other dignataries
